Bully Boy Blue is a short psychological thriller by John Nicholl, author of White is the Coldest Colour and When Evil Calls Your Name. This novella takes only an hour, maybe an hour and a half to read for several reasons. One, it’s only 62 pages, and two, it’s extremely engaging. From the beginning, we get inside the head of the wife (Kathy), who is married to an abusive husband. Like many abusive husbands, only Kathy gets to see his dark side.

As usual, John Nicholl weaves the tale in a way that forces us to become a part of the story. There’s sympathy for Kathy, who has no one but her sister to turn to, there’s hatred for her husband with his hateful slurs and degrading abuse toward his wife, and there are people that surround them that you just want to slap for their ignorance.

I could tell how the story would end, but it pleased me just the same. With every piece of his writing (I’ve read and enjoyed them all), John Nicholl grows and digs deeper into your psyche. And the titles he comes up with is always pure genius. Well worth the read! My only complaint is I want more!

A few months after Naomi is devastated when her sister is killed by a car walking to a friend’s house, she graduates college with an art degree and marries the man of her dreams, Jason. They embark on their newly romantic life together in Pacific Cove. However, life is less than happy when Naomi begins experiencing visions that keep her on edge.

Haunted Visions is a very light, quick read. My only issues is that the narrative tend to switch from past to present tense and back again, which can be confusing. The characters were two dimensional and their dialogue can be mediocre at times, but the story itself was very enjoyable. I read it in one sitting, eager to find out what was going to happen.

Haunted Visions is recommended to those who enjoy stories that include faith, love and has supernatural elements entwined. It is one that I wouldn’t mind reading again, and I’d be interested in seeing what other stories Ms. Grace will come up with.

Author Granser Kelly brings us what I like to call Mad Max with sanity meets The Walking Dead.

In Tallos-Season One-Episode One, former US Army soldier Jim Tallos is the protector of a small group of survivors about the float, a construct of a floating platform and sailboats. It’s the only way for them to stay safe from the cannibals and the Shadow People that now inhabit the southern US during this post apocalyptic world.

Tallos’ main goals are to survive and find his family. The problem is where to start and how to start. Straying too far from the float almost assures death or capture. Jim finds himself in a situation where he must leave and in so doing discovers information that changes everything he knows of the current state of things and his future.

The story has a good flow and keeps you wanting to know what happens next. You wonder who is who and what who is. Even when you think one thing you are very likely wrong. Even now as I write this I wonder about things. What more do you want from a book where there is a guaranteed next episode a month away? You want to know what happens next, right? Well, you have it in Tallos-Season One-Episode One by Granser Kelly.
